Out of my comfort zone

I've never used this type of technique before. I was not used to using such harsh sunlight. I'm still not sure if I like this photo or not.

Has anyone got any experience in this sort of thing? I normally take photos during the late afternoon or early morning when there's softer light. What do you think?
